I was much more worried about the EU legislation than I was about it’s US equivalent. Because while the internet would be better off without the Americans, I think that Europeans would certainly be missed if Al Gore shut all their internet off.
Good on the (majority of the) EU Parliament, and fuck anyone who voted yes.

They weren’t immune to the criticism, which is a very good sign. That such a piece of atrocious legislation design was even suggested makes one think though. The lobbyists have way too much power. Luckily European politicians, whether national or EU, aren’t dependent on money from donors. Unlike the US. Being independent from donors doesn’t make one automatically righteous, but the incentive to act against the well-being of your constituents is a lot smaller.

still.. got closer to being a thing than im comfy with... but at least this will probably buy us a couple years before they can agree on another attempt
upside to having lotsa different parties is that they’ll argue forever over everything.... thats kinda its downside too
